memories we never had
Memories We Never Had works off the ideas of memories as the stories that make us who we are; these are bits of the things we hold sacred in our lives: our loved ones, the experiences that marked us, the things that make life like trips, graduations, weddings and food..

Technology has permeated our existence and inserted itself in the making of these memories. It has robbed us of some of the sacredness of the experience, but it has also served a double purpose, becoming a tool to interact with these memories and to be able to make them.
Originally thought as seen in the immigrant experience where technology is the way you’re able to be part of events at all, this past year has given us all a baselined look at how when you can’t be physically present at the moments-memories, technology mediates, creating the chance to still live the experience by being spectators of it. This installation reclaims the “secondhand” memories, creating a space for them to be shared, retold and elevated.
